Broods Announce North American Headline Tour

Broods will release their sophomore album, Conscious, on June 24. Fans have a chance to pre-order the album early – in CD, cassette and exclusive clear vinyl formats – via the band’s website. Those who pre-order the album will instantly receive the anthemic first single “Free” and have a first chance at tickets to the band’s upcoming North American tour.

The New Zealand duo – composed of Georgia and brother Caleb Nott – just wrapped up a series of West Coast arena dates with Ellie Goulding. Yesterday via Facebook live stream, they unveiled plans for a North American summer tour. The headline run will kick off on August 1 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC and include shows at New York City’s Webster Hall on August 2 and The Novo in Los Angeles on August 23. Pre-sale tickets are available at www.broodsmusic.com beginning Wednesday, April 20. Tickets go on sale to the general public on April 22. See below for itinerary.

“Free,” the first single from Conscious, was #1 Most Added at Alternative radio. The song is approaching more than three million streams worldwide. Soon after its release, “Free” ranked in the Top 10 of Spotify’s U.S. Viral chart and the Top 15 of the Global Viral chart. The video for “Free,” which has already amassed over half a million views was directed by Jessie Hill (Chris Cornell, Angus & Julia Stone), can be viewed HERE.

Conscious is the follow up to Broods’ 2014 debut album, Evergreen, which contained the singles “Bridges” and “Mother & Father” and climbed into the Top 10 of Billboard’s Alternative Albums chart. Joel Little (Lorde, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding), who produced Evergreen, served as Executive Producer on Conscious, producing many of the tracks. Additional producers include Broods, Alex Hope (Troye Sivan) and Captain Cuts. The new album features a duet with Tove Lo and a song the band co-wrote with fellow New Zealander Lorde.

The album title succinctly sums up Broods’ approach to creating music. Explains Georgia Nott, “We’re very conscious on what we want to achieve with this album. We’re very conscious of what we want to do and what kind of impact we want to make. At the end of the day, it’s important to have a say over every aspect of your art.”

Thrust into the international spotlight when both members were just barely out of school, the experience of playing big stages around the world had a powerful effect on their songwriting. “After touring for so long, you start realizing what songs you enjoy playing the most and what songs the audience reacts to the most,” says Caleb Nott. “We know more about what we’re up to and that’s definitely influenced the way that we wrote. This album is a punch in the face compared to the last one. Evergreen was very subtle and airy, this one really goes for the throat.”
