And Fonda Theatre In Los Angeles November 23

Capital Cities are back with a new single – “Vowels” – and a fall headline tour. Released today by Lazy Hooks/Capitol Records, “Vowels” is the band’s first release in more than two years. It is available for download HERE. Fans can also stream the track on Spotify and view the static video on YouTube. “Vowels” appears in the FIFA 17 video game and on the official soundtrack.

Built on silken grooves, warped effects and glossy guitar tones, “Vowels” delivers wordless sing-song harmonies that put an intriguing twist on the deep frustration at the heart of the lyrics. “When you can’t express yourself with words, sometimes you just want to scream to get it all out,” says Capital Cities’ Sebu Simonian. “You need vowels to do that!”

With its melancholy undertones and shimmering feel, “Vowels” reveals a complex emotionality shaped in part by the band’s equal passion for the breezy joy of the Bee Gees and moody introspection of Jeff Buckley. Capital Cities also explored that intersection of hope and darkness on the multi-Platinum hit “Safe and Sound,” from their 2013 debut album, In A Tidal Wave Of Mystery.

Capital Cities will kick off a fall North American headline tour on November 1 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. The run will include an evening at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom (November 3) and a hometown show at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on November 23 (Thanksgiving Eve). Kaneholler will open on the tour. See below for itinerary.
